Stress Relief Tips
Each person will react to stress in a different way. Some will
forget to eat, while others will forget to stop eating. Either way
is an unhealthy response to stress.
Stress will cause your body to produce the stress hormone
cortisol. This hormone will increase your blood pressure and
your blood sugar. The food choices you make while under
stress will have a direct effect on your body.
Develop sound eating habits to protect your body from
stressful eating.
Breakfast
You get up, get dressed, and out the door you go. Where do
you think you are going to get the energy to face the stress of
the day?
Your body has been in sleep mode and you forgot to revive it.
Breakfast helps your body get back into the swing of things.
Your metabolism is in neutral, breakfast will put it into drive.
Always eat something when you get up so that your blood
sugar can get at the proper level and you will have the energy
to face the challenges of the day.
Mid-morning Snack
A mid-morning snack is not the doughnut. Grab something
that is rich in protein. An energy bar, trial mix, granola will do
the trick. Eating a snack will help keep your blood sugar at the
proper level which will continue to give you the energy you
need to face the day.
Lunch
Healthy is the key word for this meal. Fast food does not need
to be unhealthy. Stay away from the heavy-on-the-fat meals
and choose wisely. Choose protein over carbohydrates. The
sugar rush from the carbohydrates will have you asleep by
3:00.
Afternoon Snack
Keep healthy snack foods in your desk drawer. Stay away
from the chips and sodas. Protein enriched snacks will benefit
you more than fat enriched snacks. An afternoon snack will
give you the energy you need to complete the day.
Evening Meal
Eat early and eat healthy. Always try to incorporate your
vegetables and meat into your daily meals.
Eating healthy will give your body the ammunition it needs to
face any stressful situations that come your way.
